Abstract
The restaurant is an important public place in Chinese daily life. It is as much family sociability and friendly sociability that professional. This is also the place where you can observe all interactions stimulated by the notion of face. Through the choice of restaurant and the dishes, individuals and work units are all trying to “give face” and at the same time to “turn up the face”.
