Female Characters’ Productivity in William Faulkner’s Novels

Abstract


Female characters play an important role in William Faulkner’s novels to display his own argument with the judgment imposed on women by his society. This paper explores female characters’ productivity Faulkner created in The Sound and the Fury and The Mansion, from the aspects of their influence on manhood establishment, their maternal power, and their ability to talk in the male- dominating Yoknapatawpha society, to support that Faulkner holds a positive attitudes towards women.
