Analysis of Hemingway’s Work in the Light of Binary Oppositions: a Case Study of A Clean, Well-lighted Place

Chun-hua MA

Abstract

Since the development of deco structuralism, it seems that structuralism has narrowed its scope in literary criticism. Because of this, the binary oppositions of Hemingway’s short story A Clean, Well-lighted Place are studied as a case to illustrate the applicability of the methods of structuralism, and the theme of the short story is fully presented.
